Welcome to the Army!
Well, I am a week away from my ship date and found out last night that I am going to have to ship out of Columbus and won't be able to ship from Louisville. Why is that the case? How did that happen? Hopefully, today I will have some answers. What was supposed to happen was that my information 'packet' with my entire Army existence was supposed to be transferred to the Louisville MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station) from the Columbus MEPS.
This was supposed to be initiated by my recruiter 10 days prior to my ship date. I reminded him 2 weeks ago (21 days before shipping) that it needed to be done. I reminded him on two voicemails last week (15 and 14 days before my ship date) that it needed to be transferred so I could leave from Louisville. Well, not much to my surprise, I found out yesterday that the courtesy transfer hadn't been initiated and now I would need to leave from Columbus. Needless to say it was quite a disappointment for Stacy and me. Since I have to check into the hotel by 3pm on Wednesday, that puts me leaving Louisville in the morning on Wednesday. Welcome to the Army!
As promised, here's a picture of the two of us taken during our birthday dinner. Since my birthday is on the 5th of April and hers is on the 11th, we can celebrate them together. It's almost like Christmas in April.
